Safety Management, Bachelor of Science

Safety Management is a critical component of most construction, industrial, business and government settings.  This program provides students with basic knowledge and professional skills in safety science and management.  Special attention is given to OSHA rules and regulations covering the workplace.  Students in this program receive specific preparation for managing work site safety.  Coursework covers studies in areas as diverse as communication and leadership, the regulation of health and safety, and related environmental issues.  Graduates will want to consider sitting for the examinations that lead to recognition as a Certified Safety Professional.

 

Program Objectives:

A graduate of the Safety Management program will be able to:

1. Communicate effectively, orally and in writing, including the transmission of safety information to management and employees.

2. Demonstrate knowledge and skills in the area of safety management.

3. Demonstrate knowledge of ethical and professional responsibilities and knowledge of applicable legislation and regulations.

 

Program Learning Outcomes:

  1. Professional Competence: Anticipate, identify, and evaluate hazardous conditions to minimize risk
  2. Professional Decision Making: Develop risk control methods, procedures, and programs
  3. Professional Interaction: Implement and advise others on risk controls and programs
