Occupational Safety, Certificate

The Occupational Safety Certificate program will prepare graduates to evaluate and remediate workplace and environmental hazards in order to promote public health. Graduates will apply principles of math, science, and communication to protect people, property and the environment. The program prepares students for a career in industrial hygiene, industrial safety and health, risk management, regulatory compliance, and occupational health.

Objectives

•    Apply regulations and professional guidelines to evaluate and manage workplace and environmental health and safety.
•    Make independent observations and assessments of health and safety conditions.
•    Communicate effectively to gather and convey information.
•    Behave appropriately and safely in a shared learning environment.

Learning Outcomes

•    Recognize and evaluate workplace and environmental hazards; recommend control measures and accident prevention strategies.
•    Develop a written accident prevention and safety management program.
•    Conduct training and presentations on safety and health topics.
