According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, health education is a growing profession.  Using Healthy People 2020 and the HESPA (Health Education Specialist’s Practice Analysis) Competencies outlined by the NCHEC (National Commission for Health Education Credentialing) as a foundation for the curriculum, students learn about preventative health strategies and health promotion.  This concentration is ideal for the student seeking a career that is not strongly science-based, but rather one that helps teach clients to live healthy lives.  Health educators work in medical settings, colleges and universities, public health departments, nonprofit organizations, and private businesses.  Upon completion of the curriculum, students will be eligible to take the Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) exam if desired.
