Mathematics Minor

The Department of Mathematics and Computer Information Science offers two mathematics baccalaureate degree programs: B.S. in Mathematics (with a choice of two concentrations: Pure and Applied), and B.S.E. Mathematics (secondary education). The B.S. program in mathematics is designed to prepare students for a wide range of careers in mathematics outside of education, or for graduate school in mathematics. The B.S.E. in Mathematics program prepares students to become certified teachers of mathematics at the secondary school level. There is also a minor in mathematics and a minor in statistics.

Program Requirements


The minor in mathematics provides a strong background in mathematics but is flexible enough to be tailored to a variety of different majors. See also Statistics Minor.

  • 6 credit hours of math courses at 2000 level or above.
