BI 3379 - VIROLOGY

The physical and chemical nature of viruses, methods of propagation and assay, and characteristics of the major viral groups will be covered in this course. In addition, the biochemistry and molecular genetics of viral replication, as well as the types of viral diseases will be described. Finally, we will discuss methods of diagnosis and detection, current uses of viruses in gene therapy/vaccine development, oncogenic viral pathogens and emerging viruses.
