GEL 2950 - PRINCIPLES OF MUDLOGGING This course will focus on common techniques of geologic data collection and description that are employed during drilling operations, with particular emphasis on regional subsurface geology and formation evaluation techniques. Students will learn basic rock identification and classification of drill cuttings using petrographic microscopes. They will also learn how common well logs (SP, Density, Gamma, etc.) are collected and interpreted in real time at drill pads. The course will also introduce the duties and responsibilities of a well site geologist in relation to the overall Exploration and Production process and personnel.
