NUR 1100 - FOUNDATIONS OF PROFESSIONAL NURSING This course introduces first-year students to the university community and the health profession of nursing. The course has two separate goals: providing a basis for academic and professional success, and involving students in the world around them. Students will become involved in the MU community, develop an awareness of diversity issues, examine what it means to be a college student, explore what it means to be a professional, and develop strategies for success. Discussion of the importance of a strong liberal arts foundation as the basis of professional study is an integral part of the course. Professional concepts such as communication skills, basic medical language, legal, ethical, and professional issues are introduced.
